Welcome to Calvin's
05-01-2016 ....News Update 17
Hello. Calvin here. Well, I am again at Mugg & Bean, writing my 1st newsletter of 2016.
My wish for the new year is that together we make it our goal to expand our boundaries and move out of our comfort zone in order to grow our character and responsibilities a little more.
In my newsletters I like being informative about what is happening in the various areas of my business as well as giving my perspective on key business/education issues.
Having spent about half of my life as a graphic designer, I have come to realize that I have mastered my craft over the years and it was now time to teach and guide the new generation. In a sense I want to pass on the batton.
I have always been teaching computer graphic design on a part-time basis since 1995, however, I have thrown myself more into the education industry (since 2010) lecturing graphic design at colleges (currently at Damelin College).
BUT this year, for the first time, I have decided to start my own College, focusing on Entrepreneurship, which is a daunting task.
During the past 5 years in education, I have been alarmed to see so little being achieved in the area of Entrepreneurship. Yes, we praise and highlight successful entrepreneurs in the media, but there are no proper educational structures in place which focus entirely on producing young entrepreneurs who can start their own sustainable business.
I hear 90% of parents say to their school leaving children “its now time to get a job, any job..you cannot sit at home and I don’t have money to pay for your college”.
Instead, I pray for the day when parents will say “Its now time to start your own business as you have finished your entrepreneurship course and paid for the affordable fees yourself while you were studying”
Wow, what a radical concept….imagine you are 21 years old and get told to START YOUR OWN BUSINESS Vs. GET A JOB.
Well, I want to keep my newsletter short so let me give my quick summary:
1. My newsletters focus on my business happenings, especially as it relates to education and training.
2. I have started my own entrepreneurship college.
