19-06-2016 ....News Update 27
Hello. Calvin here. Those of you that have followed my recent newsletters know that I am very passionate about our youth especially their career prospects for the future.
My business offers have been focused mostly on one-to-one computer graphics and AutoCAD training.
However, being so focused on training, the poor education system in our country has got me worried.
Instead of just complaining about it (having 18 year old twins who soon must also become self-sufficiant), i decided to "be the change" I wanted to see and therefore simply started my own college this year to focus on the training of our young jobless children as well.
Starting small with just 8 students and now, 6 months later, I am blessed and impressed with all the support I am getting.....parents say they have never seen their children so motivated to go to college and notice that they have such a positive attitude towards their studies and towards their future. "I have noticed the change in my son" is what one parent have told me.
Not only am I getting the support of parents, but I have also been impressed with the support from individual owners and bosses of various
small and large companies by opening their doors so that our computer skilled students can apply their new knowlegde practically through my CalvinAcademy Internship Programme.
A big thank you to Afrit Tanker Solutions, Tygerburger community newspapers, Jotimsteel, Robinson Architects, A1 Printingworks, Dual-energy and Pimp-my-Book educational books for your support.
For the next 6 months my students will be getting hands-on experience and will then be ready to enter thejob market next year fully equiped with the ability and experience to meet the challenges and earn a competitive salary.
But it does not end there...CalvinAcademy is also teaching them business skills with the aim in mind that once they are working, then the students will be able to save a portion of their salalry and use it as the capital required to starst their own little part time business with myself and other small business owners able to mentor them to ensure their success. This will be achieved under the umbrella of the CalvinAcademy Mentorship Programme.
I do not want my students to be job-seekers for the rest of their lives, but to become job-creators with the guidance of "older" successful business owners who will guide them through possible pitfalls they may encounter.
We all have strengths and weaknesses and the mentor is there to point it out to them and advise the best way forward.
Once they have found their passion, their business niche, their client base and their recipe for success, they will go on to become business leaders and we, as parents, can be proud.
CalvinAcademy is there to equip young people through computer skills development, then internships, then employment and ultimately self-employment through mentorship....and every parent and business owner's support is vital.
If your company wants the services of my students via my internship programme, you are welcome to reply to this email OR should you want to upgrade your skills through one-to-one training, you are also welcome to reply.
Furthermore if you are a small business owner interested in improving your marketing then talk to me about your strategies regarding the creation of a website, facebook page and Mailchimp bulk email campaigns. Lets set up a meeting and lets talk...two heads are better than one and we can find the best solution at a very affordable price.
